ExtraSensory Cinema Launch Party: Win Glist & Signed Copies of College’s ”A Real Hero”

When we received the news of this up and coming event we were gave a collective “Oooh! Nice!” and wee hand clap over at P&S towers.  In a blur of same, same events brought to our desks every week its refreshing to have a new concept put under our noses for once.

Enter ExtraSensory Cinema.  An evening which focuses on the significance of music in film.. Each event will host a film screening and then after this you are treated to the live acts and DJ sets that inspired or were involved in the film.. Sounds fantastic no? You get to party as per on a Saturday night, but also leave with a warm smug glowing feeling that comes with behaving a little more cultured than normal at the weekend.. 😀 We are clearly not alone in our thinking as they quickly sold out their original venue and have moved the event over to the larger and most excellent Coronet Theatre.

For this the launch event there will be a  Screening of ‘Drive’ (Starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan & Albert Brooks) + Special DJ set from College (nominated with Electric Youth for an MTV Movie Award).  College, real name David Grellier, is a French electronic music composer, whose track ‘A Real Hero’ was the standout on the superb ‘Drive’ soundtrack. There will also be support from Eskimo Twins, Arp Point & Fade in Fade Out VJs… Full details below…

College, real name David Grellier, is a French electronic music composer, whose track ‘A Real Hero’ was the standout on the superb ‘Drive’ soundtrack, punctuating the memorable driving scene midway through the film with the driver, Irene and Benicio; and then during the denouement.

At the end of the 90s, College purchased his first computer, with which he created numerous demos influenced by artists such as Jeff Mills, Aphex Twin and labels such as Soma and Warp. In April 2007, he met Anoraak and decided to create a blog to share their most recent productions: the Valerie project was born, which led to the first Ep Teenage Color being released with the album Secret Diary following 2009. The release received critical acclaim from press and industry and led to tours across Europe, America and Australia.

‘Drive’ screening at 9.30pm

Starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan & Albert Brooks

One of the standout films of 2011, from director Nicolas Winding Refn, adapted from the cult James Sallis’ novel of the same name, Drive is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day who moonlights as a getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene. When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best – Drive.
