Village Underground – London – Price £12.50 upwards
Line-up
Lawrence (Dial, Smallville, Laid – Hamburg), Tevo Howard (live) (Beautiful Granville, Rush Hour – Chicago), October (Skudge, TANSTAAFL – Bristol), Giles Smith (Two Armadillos, secretsundaze), James Priestley (Simple, secretsundaze, The CAMP)
After what was without doubt one of our best ever seasons last year – the 10th year and a decade of secretsundaze parties we are very happy to announce details of our first party of 2012. Taking over long time favourite venue Village Underground on Easter Thursday 5th April we have put together a great line up that very much reflects some of the best music out there.

Headlining the party we are super happy to invite back one of the most respected and consistent artists in the deep house / deep techno realms Lawrence (Dial). Quite apart from his excellent DJ skills, impeccable selection and smooth set programming Lawrence is also revered because of his all round long term contribution to underground dance music and uncompromising approach. He is involved in not one but 3 excellent labels of the very highest calibre Dial, Smallville and most recently Laid. Dial the flagship label is the home to some of the most divine, heavenly music out there with a roster of artists that include Efdemin, John Roberts, Pantha Du Prince and Pigon. His own music is always extremely classy taking influence from the Chicago and Detroit styles he holds dearly but twisting them into a new aesthetic that finishes up as something quite different. He has also produced music for revered labels such as DJ Koze’s Pampa and Japan’s Mule Music. Last year his he was given the huge honour and accolade of mixing a Cocoon compilation called “Timeless”. There is simply none other better way to sum up Lawrence and his enduring appeal!

Our second guest making a return is Chicago born Tevo Howard – Live who will bringing his heavy case of analogue gear over for the night. Tevo has been making music for years and DJing since 1987 but it was only when his label “Beautiful Granville” arrived on the scene in 2008/2009 with a spate of dyed in the wool classics such as “Everyday House Music” that his gospel was spread. His sound which pays heavy tribute to trax and the Chicago sound is all firing drum machines – 808′s, 909′s and 101′s but they also have a beautiful melancholy feel that without doubt tug on the heart strings. Some of his most well known tracks have incorporated vocals by none other than his father Rick “Poppa” Howard and Tracy Thorne from Everything But The Girl. He has also released on the mighty Rush Hour, Permanent Vacation and is now focussing on his newest imprint Tevo Howard Recordings. Check out his brand new EP “The Drapes in The Living Room” on Thug records for a fine example of his work. The cut below is taken from this EP.

Our last guest comes in the shape of October (Skudge, TAANSTAFL). Hailing from Bristol October has come to prominence of late with his excellent DJ skills and records on the likes of Skudge, Tectonic and his new TAANSTAFL label co-run with John Osborn. His sound is very much a unique amalgamation of house, techno, dub and bass which is of course very much reflected in his hometowns roots. He has also collaborated with the excellent Appleblim on an EP “NY Fizzzz”. He guested for us at at The Secret Agency night at Fabric hugely impressing us with his selection and skills and we think his star is firmly on the ascendance with more records lined up for Skudge, TAANSTAFL and also for Will Saul’s soon to re-launched Simple records and his focus on constantly developing and honing his craft in the studio.

Of course our residents Giles Smith and James Priestley will as ever be on hand to guide you throughout the night. Giles in the last weeks has hit Room 1 of Fabric with Radio Slave and Nina Kraviz and Italy last weekend and Part 1 of his debut LP “Golden Age Thinking” from his Two Armadillos moniker has been making waves with Parts 2 and 3 on the horizon. James recently stepped in for Efdemin at Downlo in Sheffield And is looking forward to solo gigs at Kater Holzig (Berlin) & Alchemy @ Vicous (Rome) at Serendipity (Perugia) in next few weeks. He is also readying his first release of original studio material since 2008 on secretsundaze. The secretsundaze tour bus is getting warmed up with gigs already confirmed in 2012 in Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), Trouw (Amsterdam), Cielo (NYC), Sublevel (LA), Stop Making Sense Festival (Croatia), Bestival and not forgetting the launch of a new Sunday party in Manchester, The Cartel later this month on the 26th.

All in all this promises to be another unmissable party from secretsundaze who are as intent as ever in keepin it real right in 2012!

Early bird tickets are on sale now at just £12.50. get to it!

Love

Erol Alkan (9 hour set)

Easter Thursday is a big night in London town but for many it means only one thing: the annual Erol Alkan marathon. Starting with a five hour set in 2009 Erol has now reached the zenith promising NINE hours of music from 9pm-6am. Early birds will find the club candlelit with Erol playing a selection that moves from beat-less ambience, through psych and disco dubs (and last year an incredible extended version of a UB40 track!). He’ll then take you on a journey through techno, pop, disco, vintage house and some fond references to his legendary club Trash. Last year was the best set he’d ever played. You don’t want to miss him eclipse even that!

TBA East London – London – Price £5 – £10 adv / £15 OTD
Line-up

Coat Of Arms (Eats Everything & Chris James) (Futureboogie / Pets Recordings), Waifs & Strays (Futureboogie / Hot Creations), WildKats (Lower East / Hot Waves), residents

For our Easter special we’ve got something a bit special lined up. We’re going back to a bit more of an intimate party vibe than the likes of netil house and village underground where our last parties have been – a brand new, limited capacity warehouse space in hackney, and some of the hottest tips for 2012 lined up. The space is an impressive open plan victorian warehouse with high ceilings, several cool mezzanine areas, a skylight overarching the space, and no sound limitations. This is pretty much just going to be friends and family so get your tix fast!

THE MUSIC

Reflecting the unique and vibrant scene in Bristol, we have two of their rising stars playing at the next Potty Mouth, joined by one of east London’s dj/production collectives who have also been getting a lot of heat recently. While all 3 artists have quite different styles they all have one thing in common – a flair for producing / playing forward thinking music which sets them apart from an increasingly homogenized, Beatport Chart-obsessed scene. If you love new and interesting deep house music you are gonna love this party!

COAT OF ARMS
Coat Of Arms is a Birmingham / Bristol collaboration between Eats Everything & Chris James. They have a sound that stands out a mile from most house and deep tunes, combining polished drum grooves that often incorporate classic 808 sounds, Bristol-influenced big bass, and slick melodic chords which altogether create tunes which sound fresh and instantly classic. Their latest track ‘What You Need’ came out on Catz n Dogz’ label, Pets Recordings, and it is an absolute monster.

The support for these guys has come from every angle with plays on Radio 1 from Jaymo & Andy George and Pete Tong, to big ups and features inside UK Magazines. “Is This Something” the boys debut record was put at position number 3 in Mixmag’s Top 10 Feature for August 2011. Get Physical’s Heidi raved about the guys in her Dj Mag Column last September. Jamie Jones has featured “Is This Something” in his Live Essential Mix from Ibiza On Radio 1 last summer aswell as his debut Fabric CD Mix. So its easy to see why these guys are fast becoming hot property!

WAIFS & STRAYS
Waifs & Strays are Amos Nelson and Rich Beanland. A duo born out of diverse musical backgrounds but brought together by a love of house music, they are set for a big 2012.

Throughout their back catalogue, their tracks stand out for the really high quality of production: layered, energetic vocals and melodies, underpinned by slick beats and grooves. Their debut track – 2010’s late night ‘3am’ – was rapidly snapped up for Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom imprint, and set the benchmark high for future success; featuring in DJ Mag’s essential releases, and picking up props from major players including Luciano, DJ T, Anja Schneider, dOP, Danny Tenaglia and Laurent Garnier.

The follow-up record ‘Yeah Yeah’, gathered significant international support following its debut at the last year’s Detroit Music Conference, smashing dancefloors from Fabric to Watergate. With Heidi calling it ‘the dirtiest house track I have heard in a very long time’ and featuring it on her Radio1 show, and set to be one of the must-have releases of 2011.

2011 saw the release of their absolute smash EP, ‘Feel’, and a slew of tracks and remixes on the likes of Get Physical, Hot Creations, Leftroom and Futureboogie, including exclusive cuts for the ‘Five Years Of Leftroom’ and Heidi’s ‘Jackathon’ compilations. And their latest track ‘Back Down’, which came out on the Futureboogie compilation at the end of Feb this year, is probably the strongest track on there (up against Eats Everything’s!).

WILDKATS
Wildkats are a production collective formed in East London when Edinburgh DJ’s Stuart Sandeman & Scott Dickie met US import Corey Baker.

After sharing ideas over a booming warehouse bass bin they decided to get into the studio. Pulling influences from 80s Funk and New York Disco they began to develop their sound; an energetic combination of groove led house and dubby disco with their trademark Wildkat baseline. Inspired by the new wave of contemporary house music fusing 80s drums, synths and bass sounds, Wildkats have put their own stamp on this with their catchy edits and raw dance floor killers.

Since their inception last summer their tracks have caught the attention of some of the biggest names in the dance music community with support coming from Hot Natured, Wolf + Lamb, Crosstown Rebels, Lee Curtiss, Droog, Jamie Jones, M A N I K and Soul Clap. All of which have tried and tested these across some of the globes most proliphic dance floors from Sonar to Burning Man, Glastonbury and Ibiza’s mecca DC10.

Their 2011 EP, ‘Perpetrating’ is their best known track to date, and if you’ve been to any cool deep house parties recently then you will have heard the DJs playing it out. It’s a massive tune. Their forthcoming ‘System Crank’ release with Russ Yallop on Hot Creations is already creating quite a stir across the dance community and receiving notary kudos as the Essential Tune Contender on the UK’s Radio One show

Oval Space – London – Price ££13 / £15

Line up:

Dinky (Crosstown Rebels, Cocoon), Layo & Bushwacka!, Elek-Fun & Jos Vogel (Leading Astray)

Its that time of year again… Time for a huge night out.. On a school night.. With one exception.. No work in the morning! Bank holiday Thursday is coming around AT LAST. As we all know – they are the stuff of legends. Thursday night is the cheeky little imp that tempts you into a whole FOUR days of debauchery.

This Thursday 5th April the Shake it crew will be ensuring you have one to remember (or not as is Bank Holiday Thursday tradition!!) Shake it’s name has become synonymous with quality line-ups (previous events have featured the likes of *wait for it* Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Dubfire, Reboot, Magda, Paco Osuna and more), parties in amazing spaces, crisp, heavy sound systems and what has to be one of the best crowds in London. This coming event is no exception to the rule, as they welcome the super talented Dinky from Visionquest, Crosstown Rebels and Cocoon Records.

Chilean born Dinky is supported by the Circo Loco crew and has a large fan base across the globe. She currently holds a residency at the famous Berlin club “Panorama Bar” and has released on labels such as Cocoon, Ostgut Ton, Wagon Repair, Crosstown Rebels and Visionquest to name a few. As a DJ Dinky can rock small underground clubs to massive arenas, her technique has impressed many crowds and her style reminds fresh and exiting without limiting herself to only one line. Her sets can range from house to deep minimal techno, experimental, old school and even funk and soul.

Playing alongside Dinky will of course, be resident DJs and true pioneers of the London scene, Layo & Bushwacka! They will be bringing yet another thundering set for the Shake it faithful.

And wait… If all this wasn’t enough.. There’s more… This time round sees the party happening at a brand SPANKING new venue in the East End. Called Oval Space, this brilliant new space is literally a hop, skip and a jump from Bethnal Green tube… For extra wow points – we can tell you that this place has never been used before, the team are very proud to be able to bring it to you guys first. Oval Space is located at 29 – 32 The Oval, London, E2 9DY (please do not make your way to The Oval in South London!!) Nearest stations are Bethnal Green tube and Cambridge Heath and London Fields overground stations. Head over to our website for a map of the area.

Limited £13 early bird tickets are on sale now through Resident Advisor and Ticketweb, once they’re sold out the price will go up to £15 across the board. More information and goodies in the coming weeks.

pulse – London – Price ££20

LINE UP:

Carl Craig presents 69 live, Maya Jane Coles, Efdemin, Geddes (mulletover), Gavin Herlihy, Appleblim, Midland, George FitzGerald

To mark our 8th year, we are releasing our first ever commercially available compilation mixed by musical head honcho and guiding light Geddes. Worth £10.99 in record stores, this will be our birthday gift to you, included free with current £20 tickets :)

To make the anniversary a special one this year we’ve ordered ourselves a bit of a treat in the form of Carl Craig’s 69 live show. Carl Craig’s 69 show came as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of his Planet-E imprint last year. As 69, Carl Craig produced the first ever EP for Planet-E in 1991 – ‘4 Jazz Funk Classics’ – a release inspired from his love of the disturbing sound and vision of English avant-garde group, Throbbing Gristle and somewhat of a landmark. Further releases included iconic masterpieces ‘Sound on Sound’, the frenetic ‘Jam The Box’, the beautiful ‘Desire’, ‘Pungtang’ and an album from 69 – ‘The Sound Of Music’. Planet-E also released a limited edition 69 vinyl box-set in 2009, entitled ‘The Legendary Adventures Of A Filter King’. For our birthday, Carl Craig will perform Live a selection of the finest 69 classic releases, infused with masks, darkness and ‘retina popping’ visuals to stimulate all senses in a show that has only been performed on a few exclusive dates thus far.

Having announced herself onto the electronic music scene in 2010, Maya Jane Coles has had an unbelievable few years since earning 9th best DJ in the world in Resident Advisor’s 2011 top 100 DJ’s poll. With a procession of critically acclaimed releases over the past few years, Maya is a bright talent with more than a couple of strings to her bow. Riding pretty atop a wave of interest from all corners, mulletover are particularly pleased to have her along for the Easter celebrations.

Media-savvy-musical-maestro Gavin Herlihy turned his back on a successful journalism career, shipped himself off to Berlin and hammered out a series of top notch releases. Having unleashed the producer inside and switched professions fruitfully, this year sees him with forthcoming releases on Crosstown Rebels, Culprit and Leftroom, backed up by previous outings on scene leaders like Cocoon, Cadenza, Get Physical and Buzzin Fly.

Harry Agius, also known as Midland, is a producer that blends together all things house and techno and let’s the music decide its own identity. Being played by techno, house, funky and dubstep DJs, the sounds of Midland are deep, dystopic and demonstrative of all things dance. Hotflush acolyte and Man Make Music label head George FitzGerald completes the line-up. Back in June, he released a solid EP on Aus Music, Silhouette, and on December 5, Fitzgerald releases a new single, “Shackled”, on Hotflush. The title track made an appearance on Hotflush head Scuba’s excellent recent entry in the DJ-Kicks mix series.

With the massive success of their January Sale this year with Joy Orbison and Michael Mayer, a line up this diverse for the Birthday will further open up corners of mulletover’s ever burgeoning fanbase. Moving away from the ‘secret location’ trend of recent times mulletover Pulse, situated a stones throw away from London’s river Thames in Southwark, to be the venue for this special event. You can read a bit more about why we chose Pulse for the job here: http://ymlp.com/zUnvPH

Happy eight years strong.

Sharam’s most recent effort, ‘Sharam Live at Warung Beach Brasil’ recorded live at Warung, Brazil’s electronic ‘music temple’ stands as a testament to Sharam’s dedication to educating while entertaining the masses without any musical limitations. Not only was his head-turning 10-hour set a hit at Warung breaking the club’s all time attendance record, the set also formed the basis of a prestigious Essential Mix in May 2011 on BBC Radio 1, with Pete Tong describing Sharam ‘in devastating form.’ Charting at #14 on the iTunes Dance chart the day after release along with an overwhelming outpour of praise from his fans proves his first compilation album in five years was well worth the wait.

‘If I’m not in the studio making music then I’m on iChat with other artists getting their new tracks, going through promo links, Beatport, I listen to it all! I consider it an essential part of my job – to stay updated and ahead of the curve. There’s more amazing music than ever before and right now I’m really into Sinisa Tamamovic, Pig & Dan and Paul Ritch from one side, and Excision, Flux Pavilion and Doctor P on the other side with everything else in between. I love soaking up the beats and am excited about what’s next, that’s what makes it all fun.’

One of the few dance acts who can effortlessly navigate between the nocturnal world of dance music with underground gems like ‘Crazi’, ‘Texi’ and ‘Don’t Say A Word’ while scoring Top 20 hits internationally with ‘PATT (Party All The Time)’ feat. Diddy, ‘The One’ feat. Daniel Bedingfield, and ‘’She Came Along’ with Kid Cudi. His desire to never be confined to one genre of music has enabled him to constantly evolve and surprise people with his productions.

The success has continued this year with his Mach EP releases, which include ‘M.I.T.T.’, an underground favorite featuring a powerful vocal hook from Shakira, and ‘Fun’ a song written by Chris Martin of Coldplay.

The Grammy Award winning producerís DJ sets exemplify the diversity of his production skills. He can rock a marathon underground set as well as effortlessly entertain a crowd of younger dance enthusiasts and VIPs in Vegas, Miami and Ibiza without compromising his art as a forward thinking DJ/Producer.

Already well known for his role as part of the legendary DJ duo Deep Dish which brought the world huge hits like ‘Flashdance’ and ‘Say Hello’, he is also the driving force behind the renowned Yoshitoshi record label using it as a vehicle to promote newly discovered talent from around the world.

‘As a DJ, there is no better experience and gratification than sharing your love of music. Whether it is with thousands at a festival, or in a packed sweaty club. It’s all about the back and forth between you and the audience, where they inspire you, and you inspire them. Discovering and playing new music is a constant source of inspiration for me. It’s also very instrumental in shaping how I approach making music. Press loop, and that’s how I’m able to do what I do for all these years.’

Alex Metric has gained quite a name for himself over the last year through his numerous EP releases and his flurry of remixes for bands such as Hard-Fi, Alphabeat, Reverend & The Makers and The Infadels and, more recently, Ladyhawke and Phoenix.

Alex’s grinding electronic output is hugely pop-centric – quirky, offbeat vocals backed with fuzzy, cracked-at-the-edges synths and huge, sing-along choruses.

Having set the bar pretty high with a launch party in October 2011 that see “House Master” MK Marc Kinchen play 3 hours B2B with brother/DJ Partner in crime Scottie Deep and a world’s first live PA from Alana, “Talk Is Cheap” ensured that they welcomed 2012 in serious style, warming up what was a long and cold January with house music veterans Inland Knights, the very talented Lovebirds and incredible live artist Olene Kadar raising the roof of Cable’s main room.

This time round “Talk Is Cheap” will be taking place on a bank holiday to provide a “Good Friday” party that promises to rock Cable’s beefy soundsystem once again with some bass infused groovy house cuts!

Talk Is Cheap are very proud to present Robsoul Recordings head honcho Phil Weeks. As a house music purist and boss of one of the world’s most renowned and respected house music labels we are extremely pleased to have secured the services of such an internationally credible artist that is extremely well respected within the industry. This will also be the London leg of his Raw Instrumental Album Tour.

Put simply Phil prefers vinyl, likes his mixes dirty, and knows how to rock a crowd with some serious basslines :)

Flying in from Barcelona for his England debut will be Soul Minority who will be providing us with some scintillating deep house sounds. We are also very happy to welcome Defected’s very own and the very talented Sam Divine.

Completing the line up on the back of another big night will be Talk Is Cheap residents Jedd Barry and Chris Solo as well as guests Loud Minority DJs (Melvo Baptiste & Russ Jay).

We also have a very special guest in room 2, from 90′s UK house sensation Tuff Jam: Matt Jam Lamont playing a 2 hour 90′s house set…

Phil Weeks is a house music purist. Whether DJing or producing, the Parisian with the huge personality delivers raw beats influenced in equal measure by classic Chicago house and nu-school French flair, underpinned with a hip-hop attitude. His long running Robsoul Recordings also defines him as one of the most skilled label heads in underground house music.

In the studio Phil is dedicated to classic hardware like Akai’s MPC 3000 sampler and Roland’s TR909 drum machine. He has released more than 250 tracks and remixes since his debut in 2000, working with labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which is responsible for the majority of his original output. Phil’s work can also be found in the collaborations Fries & Bridges (with Hector Moralez) and PS Project/Bubba Beats & Kid Piston (with DJ Sneak).

Production highlights include Phil’s three albums ‘Love Affair’ (2011), ‘Yeah I Like That’ (2003) and ‘Raw Instrumental’ (2012), alongside style-defining singles ‘Hypnose’, ‘It Put Me Well’ and ‘All Day Every Day’. The music has been heavily supported by international dance press including achieving accolades such as MixMag’s and De-Bug’s ‘Album Of The Month’, while DJs ranging from Danny Howells and Yousef to Mark Farina and DJ Sneak consistently play his tracks.

Behind the decks, Phil has racked up enough air miles to take him around the world several times over, with appearances at the world’s leading house clubs –
Queen’s Club, Sankeys, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics and Stereo are all regular haunts, alongside his Paris residency ‘Get Underground’ at the infamous Rex Club.

Phil has also fully embraced the relationship with his fans and house music fans in general – whether through his popular ‘Underground Chronicles’ video diaries on Youtube or his personal relationships on Facebook.

Despite his success Phil isn’t one to brag. To him it’s all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to prove Phil Weeks is a house music purist.

A pioneer, respected DJ, an accomplished producer/remixer, label / A&R manager and radio presenter, Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont has been an intrinsic part of the UK garage scene from its very inception.

It was at South London’s The Arches, where the burgeoning underground UK garage sound, and indeed Matt’s career really took shape with his residency at the legendary Sunday venue.

It was at this seminal Sunday club that he hooked up with fellow DJ Karl ‘Tuff Enuff’ Brown, and together in 1993 they formed the now legendary production/remixing team, Tuff Jam. The duo became the leading figureheads of UK garage during the mid to late 90′s, turning out a slew of classic anthems from ‘Tumblin’ Down’ and entered the charts withTJR’s ‘Just Gets Better’ (Multiply) & Tuff Jam ft, Jaquee Bennett Need Good Love (XL) to top remixes for Kristine Blond, Boyz II Men, Usher, Coolio, En Vogue, Rosie Gaines, Brand New Heavies, Mark Morrison and more.

TUFFJAM mix CD’s “Underground Frequencies” Vol.1 (silver sales status) and Vol.2 in 1997 and 1998 for Satellite Records. Another album was compiled and mixed for the U.S.A. entitled “TUFF JAMS”.

In 1997 Tuff and Jam made an influential leap onto commercial radio (the first UK Garage DJs to do so) with their specialist UK garage show on Kiss 100 FM; a highly respected show.

We are extremely pleased to welcome Matt to play a special 90s influenced Tuff Jam set which is definitely set to go down a storm!

After the unbelievable success of our London launch party on boxing day with Clive Henry; we are excited to return with our first party of 2012 on Good Friday April 6th. MARTIN DAWSON
(Cocoon / Crosstown Rebels / Get Physical / 2020 Vision):

As a producer and artist Martin Dawson has been very busy in the last few months. Along with a very successful string of Live shows and DJ gigs in some of the best club in Europe including Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Watergate he has been busy working on a string of collaborations and solo material including works towards 4 albums and several EP’s and remixes. Having just started to release tracks under his own name at the beginning of 2010 – he has had some very successful releases and worked with some of the best labels in underground house including Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, 2020vision, Off recordings and Moodmusic. The move to work under his own name came off the back of a very fruitful career working under his alternative guise – King Roc – for which he released his debut album in 2009 to critical acclaim from the international dance music press including album of the month in DJ Mag and 10/10 by IDJ Mag.

He was nominated by DJ Mag for best UK producer and best artist album 2009 along the likes of Jamie Jones and Skream. Also well known for his work as Two Armadillos with studio partner and good friend Giles Smith (secretsundaze), Martin is a producer that has the ability to steps out of the box of just one genre and can turn his talent to anything that takes his fancy… but with a deep rooted love of house this is where you will find most of his work residing.

Martin will be the first to say he loves working in the studio but his passion for DJ and performing can not be questioned with an international career that has seen him playing all around the world from West and Eastern Europe to South American, Australia and most of Asia, right to the deepest parts of Russia. Support for his production in whatever alter ego also has his music being aired around the globe by some of best DJ’s in the world including Laurent Garnier, Tiefschwarz, Radioslave, D’Julz, Solomon, Nick Curly and Luciano to name a few.
Recent and upcoming projects include the hugely successful release ‘Think About it’ on Pets Recordings with the massive remix from Maceo Plex. As a return for this great mix Martin has delivered a mix for Maceo’s Ellumaudio label of the Odd Parents track ‘Fame’ and is a collaboration with his very good friends Catz n Dogz.

He has also just released the first vinyl from his new Two Armadillos label delivering the first of 3 parts that will collectively present the Armadillos debut album ‘Golden Age thinking’ being distributed by Clone from the Netherlands. The guys have also just remixed rising pop star Lana Del Rey with one of the lead singles from her album ‘Born To Die’.

In the last few weeks Martin has also been working with Jay Shepheard on their new project Non Fiction and the guys are set to release string of huge EP’s and will soon be presenting a live show – something both of them have done on numerous time individually so as a duo this is set to be something special.

ASH VERSCHUUR
(Al Coda)

Best known for his residency for Parliament Of House at Turnmills, UK (voted 4th best club in the world by Mixmag two years in a row) and now resident DJ of AL CODA (one of Central America’s most acclaimed warehouse parties, and now launching in London this summer), Ash has played alongside some of his favourite internationals such as Ariel, Mr C, Dave Clarke, Tim Sheridan and many household favourites including Faithless, Carl Cox, and Stanton Warriors to name all but a few. His music career has taken him through Europe, and as far a field as Asia, Australia, and South and Central America.

With sophisticated music for unsophisticated behaviour, expect a stew of minimal, deep, house & techno.

The now legendary Golden Gate BBQ’s in San Francisco, was the brainchild of the 4 original Dirtybird members, Christian Martin, Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin and Worthy. They had a personal mission to change the landscape of San Francisco house music by throwing an epic free party in the park based on their new signature sound. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, they assembled the line-up themselves with Christian purchasing a massive, yet necessary sound system on his credit card. This was the beginning and set the standard for a new era of die-hard dedicated DIY producers, all with new productions based on heavy bass-lines, smiling faces and dance floor delights.

Three years on the label was created by Claude VonStroke solidifying the Dirtybird mandate.

Ten years later the original crew remains fully intact and as close knit as ever traversing the globe, releasing records, and throwing the best parties in their wake.

The London leg will be a marathon fifteen hours with 11 headline acts. Come welcome in the spring with the Dirtybird HATCHED tour.

The tour will be sponsored by Point Blank, which is the award winning music production & DJ school based in London UK, providing world class, tutor lead online music courses and learning programs. Voted “Best Music Production School” www.pointblankonline.net

The snow came down hard and fast but that didn’t stop you from partying hard with us! Thanks to Seuil & Huxley who as expected were on top form and had the place jumping all night long playing bomb after bomb!

For those that braved the snow and made it along thank you for making the night what it was! And for those that couldn’t make it don’t worry as we have another great line up for you with CHRISTIAN BURKHARDT & LONE!

CHRISTIAN BURKHARDT (Cocoon / Oslo / Raum…Musik)

Christian Burkhardt is an artist truly absorbed with the range of sonic possibilities. A producer not content with existing within the realms of House and Techno, but one that is determined to further stretch its limits with his signature sound. A native of Heidelberg, Germany, who along with the likes of Reboot, Johnny D, Markus Fix, Ray Okpara – all from the country’s Southwest quarter – have carved out a niche’ revolution within House and Techno that has influenced the global electronic music community nearly as much as Detroit, Chicago, London and Berlin have in there respective years of glory. His earliest productions found there way onto Oslo, Raum…Musik, Deep Vibes and Area Remote. All regarded as contemporary go-to labels for quality House music. In 1998 ‘Doubledub’ surged through the speakers of main floor events and fueled after hours across Europe and beyond.

Since then it’s been clear that Burkhardt approaches music making with a strong detail to complex rhythms that not only move your body, but rise above generic club music. His masterful use of technology meshed with the warm sounds of analog gear and over 13 years of music production experience, have tinged his production with a unique sound that other producers praise and DJ’s never seem to stop playing. Solely on the basis of his productions, he has been invited to present the sounds of his Offenbach studio in the form of a live set, on nearly every continent.

Live sets which are by no means a playlist of Burkhardt hits. This melody and groove obsessed sound pioneer tweaks, layers and twists his sounds differently for every event. Inspiring even himself with every performance, increasing the passion of his own purpose. 2010 brought Burkhardt to a new level with his first album project ‘Revolver’, co-produced with Einzelkind on their new Jax label. You certainly know some of their past collaborations as the infamous La Peña. His long list of remixes for Tsuba Records, Mobilee and Deep Vibes were still ringing in club lands ears, as a new batch of original material on Oslo, Raum…Musik and Cocoon were given the stamp of approval 2011, with constant rotation in clubs, radio and podcasts. His success is measured only in the pleasure that he finds in making music. A feeling that may start in the club, but it never seems ends there.

Lone (R&S / Magic Wire)

Over the past year, Nottingham-based producer Lone (a.k.a. Matt Cutler) has undertaken quite the reinvention, leaving behind the hip-hop flavored abstraction and hazy beatscapes of his notable Ecstasy & Friends and Lemurian albums for a quicker-paced sound that’s much better suited for the dance floor.

Last summer’s “Pineapple Crush” single was the first demonstration of Cutler’s new-found love affair with Detroit techno and classic rave, but with his new mini-album, Emerald Fantasy Tracks, the transformation just might be complete as he showcases upbeat vibes, warm synths, hands-in-the-air moments, unbridled energy and glowing enthusiasm that is simultaneously naive and self-aware in its ‘I’m just dancing with my eyes closed, but isn’t it so much fun?’ motif. We sincerely hope Lone’s dance party never stops!!

Lone is climbing the ladder quickly and def one to watch for the future!

Support on the night will come from Ben Johnston & Richie La Rue and the BadApple Residents

*IMPORTANT UPDATE – 02 Apr*
As the last tickets sell up until the event, we have decided to open up a limited guest list which will close on Saturday at 2pm. To get onto the list, simply email names to info@weekendcircuit.com putting ’1ST BIRTHDAY’ into the subject field. You will receive a confirmation email to let you know your request has gone through ok! See you there!

Well, well. What a year that was! Before we get onto the 1st birthday party, we’d like to start off by thanking all of the people who joined us on the floor over the past 12 months and of course our guests Subb-an, Marc Antona, Martin Landsky, Audiojack, Coat of Arms (Eats Everything & Chris James), Marcin Czubala, Cesare vs Disorder, James What and Fabrizio Maurizi for joining us along the way!

As our anniversary lands on the same weekend as Easter, we jumped on the opportunity to make it extra special and felt there was no other way to do this than to invite Detroit legend Derrick May to join us in London to make his first appearance here since 2010 with a extended 3 hour set!

DERRICK MAY
Transmat, Detroit

Of the Belleville Three, the cadre of early Detroit producers who tested the limits of spirit within electronic dance music and changed the integrity of the form forever, Derrick May’s reputation as an originator remained intact despite more than a decade of recording inactivity. While Juan Atkins is rightly looked at as the godfather of techno, with a recording career beginning in the electro scene of the early ’80s and encompassing some of the most inspired tracks in the history of dance music; and Kevin Saunderson is the Detroit producer with the biggest mainstream success through his work with vocalist Paris Grey as Inner City, May’s position as an auteur eroded slightly during the 1990s due to a largely inexplicable lack of activity. As far as influence counts as part of the equation, however, May recorded the techno tracks which top dance producers point to as the most original and influential. The classic Derrick May sound is a clever balance between streamlined percussion-heavy cascades of sound with string samples and a warmth gained from time spent in Chicago, enraptured by the grooves of essential DJs like Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles. May’s Transmat Records label was the home of his best material, cuts like “Nude Photo,” “Strings of Life,” “Kaos” and “It Is What It Is,” most produced from 1987 to 1989 as Rhythim Is Rhythim.

“Being able to come back and play at one of the most revered clubs in the world is awesome. There’s a lot of history there, a lot of musical history, of incredible parties and DJs from many years ago. To be part of that new history is amazing.” Carl Cox on Electric Brixton (formerly The Fridge)

Following two rapid sell outs for Carl Cox’s eagerly anticipated return to London at Electric Brixton, a third opportunity to experience The Revolution is quickly heading in the same direction. Taking place on Saturday 7th April, over 50% of tickets for the final date of this very special residency have already been sold. This chance to catch a maestro at the peak of his electronic wizardry has had those with a thirst for cutting edge dance music clamouring for tickets. Carl’s perpetual hunger for artistic creativity keeps him hooked into the underground scene, making him a true dance music pioneer and one of the all time great DJs.

Joining Carl on the night will be a key figure at his Space Ibiza nights; Nic Fanciulli. With an upcoming Balance compilation on the horizon and huge Saved events across the planet, 2012 is looking set to be a massive year for the Saved Records boss. An ever present at the world’s leading parties, April alone will see Nic play the likes of Panorama Bar in Berlin and Womb in Tokyo, as well as make his Electric debut. His recent collaborations with the likes of Detroit legends Rolando and Stacey Pullen have been huge favourites of ours over recent months, whilst his intelligent, yet driving strain of house and techno will be sit perfectly within the sights and sounds of The Revolution.

Completing the main room lineup will be all round music aficionado and fellow resident for The Revolution at Space Ibiza; Yousef. Founder of Circus, Liverpool’s huge club night that continues to showcase the world’s finest house DJs, Yousef has always kept loyal to his underground roots. He is now found destroying the world’s greatest clubs and festivals such as Ultra in Miami, Dance Valley in Amsterdam and Manchester’s Warehouse Project. He is sure to be on outstanding form when he arrives at Electric Brixton.

Room 2 will be a more up close and personal affair with Shiva at the helm guiding you through a house music journey.

With this third date met with phenomenal demand and the previous two nights selling out extremely fast, do not hang around if you want to experience this spectacular Easter residency. Tickets are on sale now priced £20.

London – be prepared to have your breath taken away! The Revolution is coming…
