It seems East London events will no longer need their “TBA” moniker, as a brand new permanent space opens over the next few months…
Based in the heart of Bethnal Green, overlooking the huge steel structure of the industrial Gas Works, Oval Space a truly spectacular converted warehouse and evolving multi use arts space. With triple height acoustically treated ceilings and windows that span the entire length of the 800 square meter space, for one of the most spectacular views in London. There is also a smoking terrace and roof garden (currently in construction) and if this wasn’t enough – add to this a mini vintage cinema, bar, fresh fruit and veg bar… phew! We are told “The space carefully curates all uses to ensure each and every event delights the public. It’s the small things that matter, from ensuring the toilets are always clean and well stocked through to a considered cloakroom”
The venue is officially launching within the next couple of months but you can grab a sneak preview over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. On the Maundy Thursday the Shake It! Guys hold an almighty shebang with residents Layo & Bushwacka and Cocoon’s Dinky, then on the Friday the first edition of their quarterly in-house night called ‘Behind The Hay Bales’ will be launching. On the lineup will be Soulfooled’s Superlounge and Watergate resident’s Marco Resmann and Fritz Zander. We have a feeling we may as well camp up outside the venue for the weekend as then on the Sunday the Need2Soul crew will be partying through until Monday with none other than Francois K!
After the closure of so many venues in the capital it makes a refreshing change to here the good news of a new and exciting space opening.
