Bestival and Camp Bestival announce first acts (Orbital and more)

Sunday Best looks set to further its reputation as one of the UK’s finest festival organising teams with the announcement of the first acts set for the crew’s two revered outdoor events. There’s a lot to get through, so without further ado let’s cut to the chase.

Camp Bestival will take place between 26th and 29th July 2012, and attendees can expect a suitably sporting vibe to the whole affair (with Camp Bestival Bluecoat led 2012 Silly Olympics amongst the highlights). Of course there will be some music too, and Friday night’s headliners are none other than Hot Chip.

Alongside the electro indie stalwarts you can find sets from Ram Jam (David Rodigan MBE), Jaguar Skills & His Amazing Friends, Ben UFO, Youngman, Mosca, Zed Bias, Greg Wilson, Electric Minds, Stopmakingme, The Japanese Popstars, and Camo & Krooked. Live act wise names like Kool & The Gang, Chic with Nile Rodgers, Rizzle Kicks, The Cuban Brothers, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and Little Dragon all appear on the impressive looking lineup.

Promises of a David Lynch Foundation and Rob Da Bank Youth Club should also entice, and so by now you’re probably wondering how the hell you go about buying a ticket (at £180 for the whole weekend). If that’s the case then simply click on this link and you’ll be redirected to a bona fide seller. On the other hand, if the parent festival is more your cup of tea then stick around.

Because we’ve yet to mention this year’s Bestival is booked in for September 6th-9th, at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight. Better yet UK dance pioneers Orbital will be making a very rare appearance in the Big Top on Sunday night. Other than that there aren’t too many details available, other than news of a new vintage cinema that will be constructed on site, with Sunday Best bossman Rob da Bank re-scoring the original 1930s King Kong, and the theme for 2012 is ‘wildlife’. Tickets for the full bash are currently selling at an early bird price of £170.
