Yay! Yay! Its Bank Holi-day! This weeks podcasts, top 5 event listings + the very best of the rest!

Hullo readers… Another bank holiday is imminent!! *fog horn noise* below is your hand selected weekly podcasts (to get you dancing pre rave up, or toe tapping on the sofa post rave up!), the Top 5 events, as well as the VERY best of the rest (and there are LOTS!).  I hope you’ll have a blinder this weekend…  The Weasel Blog advises that you get 8 hours sleep, eat well, don’t drink too much, don’t get up to anything too silly, avoid repetitive beats in dark rooms, don’t dance until you have blisters, don’t stay out until you lose your voice for work on Tuesday & definately don’t steal any street cones….!

Pfff! YEAH RIGHT! (all except that street cone bit – that is sooo retro in a BAD way.. Hmmm but kinda good in an Alan Partridge way.. !) Enjoy folks & see you next week! xx

FRIDAY 27TH MAY

  1. JAMM ROCKS AT JAMM WITH TOM MIDDLETON, RETRO/GRADE + MORE: Brixton’s Jamm brings it this evening with one of my top 10 fave DJs/Producers EVER Tom Middleton. Also joining will be Retro/Grade (Tom Neville & Serge Santiago), Cassette Jam and many others. Apparently all of this will also be in 3D – i’m not quite sure how that bit works (is Tom Middleton normally in 2D then? LOL) but I’m 100% sure this will be worth checking out!
  2. WARM & ELECTRIC MINDS PRESENTS LOVEBOX WARM-UP PARTY @ CRUCIFIX LANE: Despite a last minute venue change due to licence problems at the venue (please spread the word – this will now be at Crucifix lane NOT Rivington studios) this party is STILL going ahead and will be just as amazing! The venue change will also means the party can spread across 2 rooms and the have longer opening hours.  With Motor City Drum Ensemble headlining (goose bumps at the thought!) and many many many more get there early to get in for this one!
  3. HUNTLEYS & PALMERS WITH LEVON VINCENT & LIL SILVA AT PLASTIC PEOPLE: Plastic People needs no introduction – you all know how much I adore that place! 1 of the best in London, best crowd, soundsystem, dancefloor, vibe and full of “real” music heads (hard to come by in Shoreditch these days) Levon Vincent will be an amazing artist to see in this space.  The last time I went to see him at a warehouse party though he’d got too stoned in his hotel room before hand and played chill out instead of a banging Detroit techno set.. LOL lets hope this doesn’t happen this time (although on PP’s system it’ll still sound GREAT!)
  4. LDN AT WESTBOURNE STUDIOS: Over in West London the DEEP.END collective are hosting a shindig at Westbourne Studios.  Very nice indeed and very nice to see a crew of people taking things out of the East end! The venue will be an amazing place to party – its a great space which has prob never been seen by many party goers. The lineup speaks for itself  (click link for more info) & I can vouch fully that you will have a great time, these guys know how to throw a party!
  5. GENIUS FEAT SANTOS AT CARGO: Was pleasantly surprised to see name on a line up! Santos’ Camel’s track all those years back in 2000 was one I played and played to death – haven’t given him a thought since but it seems he has been up to a whole manner of things production wise since.  He’s graced the likes of Nic Fanciulli’s Saved, John Digweed’s Bedrock, Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour, Get Physical, Figures, VIVa, Crosstown Rebels, Germany’s Great Stuff and many more.  Alongside him tonight will be Genius head honcho Luke Donington, Irtelli & Gus + Cleber Malheiro…  This is gonna be an amazing party!!!

  3. HOLIC AT CAFE 1001: Another 1 one of my favourite DJs is in town this weekend…. Freerange’s JIMPSTER! This man always smashes it – whether its production wise or DJ wise.. Sounds good to me!

  4. POOL DISCO GOES DICK & FANNY @ SHOREDITCH HOUSE ROOF TOP: One of the coolest parties I have ever stumbled across (and stumbled it was – we took the wrong fire exit out of a pal’s party in a room downstairs!) Think AMAZING music (this time courtesy of resident DJ Severino, Mark Moore aka SExpress and Ben Pistor (Disco Bloodbath), beautiful people, THAT swimming pool, trannies, fashionistas  and the just plain avant garde.  Legendary party hostess and doyen of the New York club scene Susanne Bartsch are their special guest this month. Flying over especially for the event, Ms Bartsch will be bringing  more than a touch of NYC chic to the party.
  5. GROOVE SANCTUARY MEETS DANCE CULTURE AT MADAME JO JO’S: Another party I once stumbled across on a Sunday night whilst in the West End and tbh the memory of this evening has never left me!  Original, jaw dropping and down right effing amazing are words that spring to mind.  Music wise except a mix of house, Deep Soulful House, latino, tribal their music styles fulfill the dance floor’s every need and they’ll no doubt squeeze in some classic Disco & Boogie to complete the musical picture. The coolest thing about this night is that the room is FULL of dancers (from street to professional) who come here to show off new moves and exchange others, its also been a meeting place for many House Dancers worldwide. These guys are amazing to watch but saying this its not just for watching – the incredibly friendly atmosphere means anyone can join in – dancer or not! This time round Paris’ long running club night DANCE CULTURE is coming to London for a special collaboration party with GROOVE SANCTUARY. This night is quite possibly 1 of London’s best kept secrets.

MONDAY 30TH MAY

  1. JADED CHANNEL ZOO AFTERPARTY WITH MIHAI POPOVICIU AT CABLE LONDON: They say “Our perfect afterhours is a tension of certain elements. Gravitas and hedonism, sultryness and dark intensity, familiar and uncharted… For this Bank Holiday Monday’s Jaded, we’ve cast the dice for an afterhours so redolent of adventure, it feels forbidden…”  this Bank hol they have a rather tasty line up in the form of;  Mihai Popoviciu (Highgrade) Raymundo Rodriguez, Gareth Wild & Nick Maleedy Back to Back in the Main Room and  the Balcony Room will be hosted by DC7 with Uto Karem, Lorenzo Panico… be there or be a triangle!
  2. KUBICLE BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY AT PAPERMILL: Bank Holidays wouldn’t be the same without some KUBI- action. The guys are holding some great parties this year – some in DC10 others in Detroit but this time round they are on home soil to dance the day away Landan style… The theme for their 1st terrace affair will be TOTALY TROPICAL, think Hawaiian prints, flowers in your hair as we embrace the start of the summer. Music supplied by: Dan Berkson & James What, El Harvo , Toni D, FB Julian, Plus a special guest
