Please Show Your Support For Japan…

Hey All,

With the events going on in Japan I have to say I have felt more than a bit despondent about doing the blog this week… Writing about nightlife when there are people who have lost their lives and their homes it all seems a bit shallow! Just as I was going to decide not to write this week, an event was drawn to my attention which made me realise, most of you are probably feeling the same and feel like you want to do something to help people through your normal life.  With this in mind I urge you all to support this event this week.  Its on tonight and is called “A Dance For Japan” and its at Plastic People – ALL door donations and money raised will go to the japan Earthquake and Tsunami appeal.  All DJs have donated their time for free and are connected to Japan through touring, family, friends or from being from Japan.  Line up is as follows: Felix B (Basement Jaxx), Ashley Beedle, Faze Action, Yam Who?, The Cosmic Truth, Toni Rossano, Toru Yo and Andy Newcombe.  As you prob all know Plastic People only holds a limited number of people as is such a small venue so please get there early! if you cannot make the event you can donate online to this worthwhile cause here: http://www.justgiving.com/DanceForJapan

One other thing I have been thinking about is that events like this really do bring home that life is short so we shouldn’t feel guilty – we should be out there enjoying everything life has to give us! So folks please… Enjoy yourselves this weekend and take care of each other… x

This blog goes out online at www.plainandsimple.tv and is also mailed to over 100k of you in the UK every bleedin week! It PURELY recommends nights and other stuff that is great! Help support the cause by sharing with others and sending us stuff! If you have a DJ mix/Track/Event or silly link to submit to me please mail me at: cheekyweasel@yahoo.co.uk and I’ll have a look/listen.

A Dance For Japan w/ Felix B (Basement Jaxx), Ashley Beedle, Faze Action + More @ Plastic People

Following the tragic events that have unfolded in Japan over the last few days we have gathered together a group of DJs to bring you a Dance For Japan to raise money for the Japan earthquake and tsunami appeal. All the DJs who have donated their time for free have a connection to Japan whether it’s through touring, family, friends or being from Japan. Please join us and support this very worthy cause. All door donations and money raised will go to the Japan earthquake and tsunami appeal.

Two charities have been selected to receive money raised from the appeal. The first is the Japan Red Cross which was chosen by Andy Newcombe’s close friend Raita Utsumi who comes from Ishinomaki, one of the most devastated areas in Miyagi prefecture. The second charity for online donations is to GlobalGiving who are working with the International Medical Corps, Save the Children, and other organizations on the ground in Japan!”

Wagon Christ LP launch, Débruit at XOYO

“The one and only Luke Vibert returns to the fray under his most celebrated and wondrous moniker, Wagon Christ (to clarify, he is not under a wagon. Nor on one. Nor is he, strictly speaking, Christ, though we can’t rule out his messianic status).

The king of stoned exotica, ridiculous vocal samples, toothsome puns, swinging rhythm and the psychedelic groove, Vibert has never been one to take himself too seriously, but his music continues to delight. His new album, “Toomorrow”, out on Ninja Tune records on March 14th is a case in point. Built around a dizzying array of vocal samples – by turn funny, vacuous, pointed and occasionally threatening – the album spins out in a hundred and one directions whilst always being recognisably a Wagon Christ production. Tonight Wagon Christ plays live to mark the launch of “Toomorrow”, and you don’t want to miss is, even if we say so ourselves. Which we do.”
