This weeks weasel blog: pick’s of London’s events this weekend, funny links, competitions, interviews + podcasts & mixes

Hullo there!

Just quickly – before I go ANY further… Have you heard this Roger Sanchez track? Sorry if i’m a bit late off the mark with discovering this horror but Ermmmm…. SELL OUT! Listen and be a bit sick in your mouth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg7z8kaMrBk.  I am a little disappointed with you Roger – you were always quite commercial but this takes the biscuit.. saying that I don’t blame you… Such atrocities are all the fault of David Guetta! Yes YOU its all your fault! You ruined house music when you sold its soul to vocoder loving R&B lovers.  Now they are all jumping on the band wagon! *sigh* rant over.

Anyway on a more positive music note… Tomorrow night Rhythmatic are hosting yet another monster warehouse party (2010 saw them bringing Marco Carola and Matthias Tanzmann to the capital) – this time its with Hideout Records!

Hideout is the label of  Davide Squillace (renowned for his DC10 and Circo Loco residency, appearances atCocoon, and back to backs with Dubfire at WMC Pool Parties) and Lucca Bacchetti(responsible for astounding productions on labels such as Ovum, Sci+ TEC and more recently his track, Endless Summer on Hideout, Luca can also be remembered for his side of one of the first of a brand new series of  Cavo Paradiso compilation albums – Cavo Pardiso Mykonos CD09). Taking into account previous parties this is going to be amazing!! Check Lauren Fenner’s interview with THE David Squillace HERE

You can win tickets to the party on plain and simple site HERE.

Happening after the main party at a secret location is the after party Un:Rated you can only get in if you are down on the list – with rumours circulating that Davide and Luca will be rolling out a B2B set you’d be mad to miss out – send names to: info@rhythmatic.co.uk

Take a look at one of the previous parties to see what goes down at these legendary events….

Also coming up in the not so distant future is the Cocoon warehouse party which I also have discounted tickets for – we all know how quick these parties sell out so get in there quick! Again – follow my ticket link HERE to get the 10% discount

This blog goes out online at www.plainandsimple.tv and is also mailed to over 100k of you in the UK every bleedin week! It PURELY recommends nights and other stuff that is great! Help support the cause by sharing with others and sending us stuff! If you have a DJ mix/Track/Event or silly link to submit to me please mail me at: cheekyweasel@yahoo.co.uk and I’ll have a look/listen.

Rhythmatic presents Hideout Showcase with Davide Squillace & Luca Bacchetti at TBA – East London

12th March / 10PM – 5:30AM
Secret Shoreditch Warehouse

Positioning itself free from stereotypes associated with so many record labels in our day and age, like Techno, Minimal or House, Hideout (established in 2009),is proving with each and every release that you do not need to pigeon-hole yourself to be successful.Housing tracks by some of the best underground musicians; D’Julz, Jamie Jones,Martin Buttrich, Robert Dietz and SIS are just some of the artists that stain the young Hideout catalogue.

The lovechild of DJ supremo’s Luca Bacchetti and Davide Squillace, its trademark is sexy, quality dance music – a true reflection of its creators. Bringing together a collection of artists, mixing different tastes and backgrounds has created something new: Hideout Music. Its destiny to be big is already written and the imprint stands as a leading new label in underground sound.

In keeping with Rhythmatic’s hunger for firsts, the team take their stellar
atmosphere, re-employ their enviable production skills and dust-off the warehouse, presenting Hideout’s debut UK showcase. Teasing the decks in addition to Rhythmatic resident, Stathis Lazarides will be label bosses Luca Bacchetti and Davide Squillace.

Responsible for epic moments such as UK exclusive Cavo Paradiso showcases, touring Greece with the likes of Carl Cox and exceptional appearances by Marco Carola, Rhythmatic are ready to compose yet another page in London’s monumental clubbing history book.

Mixmag“One of London’s most exciting underground raves”
Resident Advisor“they’re among the best parties in London”
Marco Carola“One of my favour it parties in 2010”

Luca Bacchetti
www.residentadvisor.net/dj/lucabacchetti

Currently residing in Barcelona, the DJ, producer and co-label head of Hideout makes swift business of spreading his signature twists and musical turns through myriad productions and remixes released on Ovum Recordings, Wagon Repair, Supernature, Be As One, Tenax, Safari Electronique, Sci+Tec and of course, Hideout. Additionally, he’s accrued a host of accolades including a nod for Beatport’s Best Artist in 2008 that confirms Luca’s status asan industry leader. As a DJ, Bacchetti’s style is incomparable, showcasing his unique ear for selection and rare ‘voice’ to which he adds a sexiness uncommon amongst his peers. Equally versed at moving a dark basement club to fits of revelry as he is to casting a deep shadow across a sunny beach party, the breadth and depth of sources from which Luca culls his sets astounds constantly. It is this duality of emotion that interests the DJ and inspires the work on many releases, specifically his last – The Endless Summer. The contrasting shades of Luca’s sound have not been lost on the world’s clubbing masses. International tours regularly bring his performances to the five continents and to the best clubs and festivals from Berlin to New York to Sydney, Ibiza, Tokyo and now London for Rhythmatic.

Davide Squillace
www.residentadvisor.net/dj/davidesquillace

Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him.

Having honed his craft at home, in 2004 Davide left Naples for Barcelona unwavering in his resolve. Now, while touring around the continent, he began to release in earnestwhat would become a massive body of work, and at a dizzying pace. His productions have graced the catalogs of some of the finest labels including Ovum, Sci+Tec, Morris Audio, Resopal Schallware, Supernature, CMYK, Adagio, Viva, Nervous, Saved, Shake, Rillis and more. Which is not even to speak of his curating and releasing on his own labels – Sketch, Minisketch, Vir, 500, Titbit and of course Hideout.

In addition to his genre-defining works, Davide continues to inspire and ignite dancefloors worldwide. Whether it be at Circoloco, where he has been a resident since 2007, Womb, Berghain, D.Edge, or any other marquee venue, Davide plays with an unequalled funk and excitement. His signature sets, revered by the masses and peers alike, do a double duty in guarding our much-loved traditions while constantly pushing them forward.

Stathis Lazarides
www.residentadvisor.net/dj/stathislazarides

Stathis Lazarides has the musical ethos and mentality of an artist who finds it impossible to compromise with trends and to specify genres when in the studio or at the DJ booth. Music has been his foremost priority for 20 years and the concept of sitting down to compose in his studio without a specific plan, mainly working on impulse, is for him the building block of underground music.

Stathis has also the driving musical force behind the Rhythmatic moniker, and along with his now 13 year old residency with the infamous Cavo Paradiso (since 1998), Stathis holds the residency at extremely high regard. It is impossible to define his music style in a few concise words. Deep evolution? Funky sentiments? Dirty intentions? Atmospheric, unpretentious, quality underground music? Or a reflection to his emotions? His style obviously has a good presence of house and techno surrounded by a range of elements. But imagine what would happen if several people were asked to describe a very large and complex object that they don’t see, but could only feel. In this case the object seems to be music!
