Proud takes the reins at Matter for NYE

May 2010 saw the end of Fabric’s control of the 02’s monster-capacity club venue Matter, after less than 18 months involvement in what was one of London’s most exciting new club ventures. Now Proud are here to take over the behemoth at London’s 02 beginning with a New Years Eve extravaganza!

Back in 2008 the possibilities of what could be held at Matter seemed endless and that the realms of clubbing fantasy would become a reality. Fabric maintained the venue’s live arts and performance-based events aesthetic throughout their time there and Proud aims to build upon that by fusing together two of the venue’s different initial plans of use; a super-casino and a large-capacity night club.

The result is Proud@Matter, which kicks off its exciting new residency within the dome on New Years Eve with ‘NYE Cirque! The night plans to bring Las Vegas-style entertainment and clubbing to London’s docklands and inject it with some Cirque Du Soleil visual flair. Combine that with fan-favourite DJ sets and a diverse offering of musical styles and genres and NYE Cirque could well be the place to be on New Years Eve.

Most of you will be asking how Proud’s takeover is going to overcome the difficulties that arguably led to the venue’s downfall under Fabric. Difficulties with location and transport will be a thing of the past as Proud plan to provide an efficient transport service of their on New Years Eve and throughout January and February. Buses in and out of town will be provided from 10pm to 6am every 10 minutes to pick you up and drop you off. At just £1 a ticket that’s cheaper than the tube, taxi or London bus!

Whilst the DJ lineup is still in the stages of being confirmed the entertainment is booked and already promises to be a festive treat for the senses. Fire-breathers, aerialists, stilt walkers, trapeze artists, snake-charmers and much more will be on show to those seeing in the New Year in the dome.

Confirmations of the acts set to spin the decks are trickling through day by day leading up to the event and so far the lineup is already looking great. DJ Yoda has been confirmed as a headline act for NYE Cirque meaning that fans of older events RAM and Hospitality will be rewarded for their loyalty with some much-requested drum ‘n’ bass.

Shaun Ryder and a Maccabees DJ Set are also set to take place in the main 2000 capacity room whilst Paradiso 45 will be on hand to host the second room. Faze Action, Justin Robertson (Deadstock 33’s set), Thomas Gandey (Caged Baby), Paradise 45 and Guy Williams are set to appear.

Live acts and many, many more DJ sets are due to be announced in the build up to Proud @ Matter’s NYE Cirque extravaganza.
