‘Proper legend’ announces new London residency

If there was a ‘dedication to house music’ award then only a few DJs could really be nominated. Chris Duckenfield should, and most probably would, be one.

During his formative years on pirate radio he championed the early acid and rave scenes, during which time his “watch your bass bins” quip was, oddly enough, sampled by Altern 8. More recently, he established a vinyl distribution company, as most other people started reading plastic- either CD or 12″- the last rites. In between all that he’s perhaps best known as one half of Swag, providing sounds that go bump in the night to passionate 4/4 obsessives across the world.

So it’s with great pleasure, and anticipation, that we announce Duckenfield’s first residency in London. Ever.

Kicking off on November 13th, The Idiots Are Winning will see the capital succumb to something of a northern takeover, as the Sheffield resident arrives in town to join fellow Yorkshire exports Jake Manders and Louis Finch. Dolan Bergin, aka Electric Minds boss- the London label that began life as an East End Warehouse party- will also bring a box or two or tunes down, completing a lineup worthy of the tag ‘real British house’.

Old Street’s Life is the chosen venue for this new quarterly party, with booze and beats flowing until 5am. Early arrival might be a good idea, though, as everyone from the Nathan Barley Appreciation Society to the most discerning of dance enthusiasts will be heading to this 100-or-so capacity basement.
