Paper presents ‘A Sound of Norway’

House merchants Paper Recordings have announced a new series of Scandinavian singles. The celebration of all things great about northwest mainland Europe’s electronic music scene kicks off on October 13th.

The first instalment of A Sound of Norway looks to build further on the historical Norwegian-Paper relationship kick started with the release of Kaminsky Park by Those Norwegians in 1997. After the release producers Torbjorn Buntland and Rune Lindbæk went on to become one half of Royksopp, and the man behind Sondag on Paper’s sister label Repap respectively.

The new release will see Ralph Myerz, Ciscoe and KeyBoy contribute to the three-tracker, which straddles house and disco while remaining saturated in what Annie Nightingale once described as Nor-tek during the hey day of Radio 1’s ‘must-remember-to-record-the-Essential-Mix’ Saturday night schedule. From what we’ve heard it bounces, jigs and joggles(?) its way between heavy, rolling party house and offbeat electro, and stands in welcome contrast to the overwhelmingly plod-happy, deep sound of much underground house in 2010. Follow Paper Recordings on Twitter for ongoing updates, and we’ll be checking in as usual with a review closer to when this hits a shop or URL near you.
