Bestival Main Stage 2010 is a Delectable Dance Treat…

For dance music fans across the UK Bestival will be a much-desired dance destination as the festival sees its lineup get ever more diverse in 2010. Sunday (12th September) sees a Main Stage lineup of The Prodigy headlining, supported by the nationwide drum ‘n’ bass success Chase & Status. The Prodigy delivered unforgettably high-tempo festival performances year-on-year since the group first broke into the music scene in the 1990’s. Recent years has seen the band, spearheaded by eccentric frontman Keith Flint, play V Festival and Reading Festival to tens of thousands of music fans. Chase & Status seem an ideal support with their blend of dance, trance, drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep which is certain to have the crowd ready and raring to go for the headliners.

ProdigyLive

The opening day of the festival (Friday 10th September) will see a handful of dance acts throughout the day before Dizzee Rascal headlines. Electro-pop dance outfit Hot Chip will be on hand to warm the crowd up for Dizzee with their energetic feel-good dance style. Preceding them Simian Mobile Disco, one of the UK’s most talented DJ teams, will bring unique mixes and album material from their now-classic debut Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release and latest follow-up Temporary Pleasure. Earlier in the day hip-hip electro duo Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip will be on the main stage firing up a mid-afternoon crowd.

Ones to watch on the main stage: The Prodigy because you simply won’t see a more lively, electric performance from anyone else, ever. Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip are a must-see for the crowd-pleasing Thou Shalt Not Kill. And just for laughs get down to see Aussie vet-come-chart-topper Rolf Harris wobble his board!

Bestival’s Big Top in 2010 Hosts Dozens of Dance Delights

New York’s dance music giant LCD Soundsystem, the pseudonym of James Murphy, whose recent album This is Happening recently topped the charts, will play the festival, bringing unbeatable beats along with him. Alongside him the UK’s own melodic indie-electro outfit The XX will play a typically fantastic and memorable set of material from the stunning self-titled debut.

Plenty more live dance bands and DJ’s will play across the four day festival under the iconic Big Top at Bestival this year including Delphic, Plastikman, La Roux, Vitalic, DJ Yoda, Flying Lotus, Mylo, Erol Alkan, Sub Focus, Caspa & MC Rod Azlan, BEardyman, Jack Beats and Joy Orbison. This makes for a brilliantly varied mix of pop, dance, dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass and everything in between on offer for festivalgoers attending Bestival this year.

Ones to watch at The Big Top: LCD Soundsystem for the sheer brilliance of their self-titled debut album and equally impressive follow-up Sound of Silver. 2010 chart sensation Tinie Tempah recently delivered a fantastic show at Hyde Park’s 02 Wireless and is certain to do it again.

The Bollywood Tent Brings Yet More Dance DJs to Indulge In…

Head to the After Burner Tent for More…

The dance music doesn’t stop there either as the After Burner Tent will feature performances from the incredible dubstep pioneer Skream with more wobbly bass lines than you can shake a stick at. Zane Lowe will bring his usual mixture of dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass and mad mixes to the decks too. Simon Franks and Tom Dinsdale, better known as Audio Bullys, will also grace the After Burner stage with a typically unique take on sample mixes including the chart classic Shot You Down featuring Nancy Sinatra. More acts on offer for dance-fanatics include DJ Zinc, Dub Pistols, Mary-Anne Jobbs, David E. Sugar, Breakge and. MC Dynamite.

Ones to watch in the After Burner Tent: Skream never disappoints with deep, bass-heavy dubstep wobbles. Zane Lowe and Audio Bullys have given some unforgettable turns on the decks in recent years and always put on a lively show.

And That’s Not All Folks!

Sometimes dance-fans want something a little different and there’s plenty of bands, singer/songwriters and alternative artists to take your fancy. Getting a chance to get the following five bands might be the best decision you make at Bestival this year:

  1. Wild Beasts – The stylings of this Leeds-based indie-folk operatic group will blow you away. Fantastic vocals, incredible instrumentals and an all round one-off experience could be your highlight of the entire weekend. Check them out.
  2. Echo and the Bunnymen – After a 20 year split the Liverpudlian pop rockers have returned better than ever. Classics like The Killing Moon, The Cutter and Lips Like Sugar are sure to impress.
  3. The Flaming Lips – Saturday night’s headliners are in the top spot for a reason; they’re brilliant live. Don’t miss them if you can help it as a headline show from these guys is a special moment indeed.
  4. Roxy Music – One of the UK’s best-loved rock/soul bands will support the Flaming Lips on the Saturday night and are a rare site at a festival. Don’t miss them!
  5. Erland and the Carnival – A relatively new band on the scene but having made waves at a majority of the summer’s festivals already they’re the band to see while you’ve got the chance. On The Rock ‘n’ Roll stage too the atmosphere will be electric.
